Camp Clark

Upgrading a guard post at National Guard base.

OWN, Inc. contracted with the State of Missouri Office of Administration Division of Facilities Management Design and Construction, and the Missouri Air National Guard.

The challenge? Modernize the entrance to Camp Clark, a Missouri National Guard training facility in Nevada, Missouri. The OWN team was also responsible for the design of a new Administration building, a new 60-soldier barracks, a new 200-soldier dining facility, and a rebuild of the guard shack including a canopy to shelter the guards from sun, rain, and snow.

These changes would make it meet the military’s updated security/IFC criteria for all entries.

Working with HJM Architects out of Kansas City, Missouri, OWN designed the where/what of the secured entrance, effectively moving the roadway to redesign the approach leading up to the checkpoint. The team partnered with Buddy Webb & Company architects out of Springfield, Missouri, on the new buildings.

From bidding through completion, OWN used the online statewide facilities management procurement system and worked within the strict guidelines of the details in the contract and any resulting change orders.

While providing Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and Conceptual Design, OWN went beyond to address challenges posed by soft soils on very flat topography.

In the end, the soldiers serving at Camp Clark got a design to a modern entrance to keep them safe, comfortable, and secure.
